# ElizaOS Thread #21788 — Public Replies Record (facts-only)

**Scope of this record:** public replies received on the elizaOS discussion thread
[What's the most annoying unsolved thing about giving agents real payment ability right now?](https://github.com/elizaOS/eliza/discussions/21788)
(#21788, Q&A). Re-verified against the live thread on **2026-09-23** by the
repository assistant (fetch + dump). Every quote below appears verbatim in the
public thread.

**Relationship to frozen artifacts:** this is a NEW dated record. No frozen file
was touched (`docs/counterparty-*`, `docs/ws-5.md`, `scripts/verify-live.json`,
`packages/verifier-c/*` stay byte-identical). The original post record remains
at `docs/counterparty-1-elizaos-discussion.md` (frozen, "unanswered at time of
post" — true at the moment of posting, 2026-09-15 05:44:00Z).

**No new claims made here.** This record only surfaces what is already public:
participants, dates, and the counterparty's own words. It does not assert any
commitment, agreement, pricing, or funding (all still LOCKED; see
`docs/STATUS.md` → Gates).

## The three counterparty replies (verbatim excerpts)

### 1) 2026-09-16 — boundary framing (People's Court / Epistemic Labs)

> The hardest unsolved part starts after authorization and payment receipts:
> deciding whether the delivered work actually satisfied the deal.
> A signature can prove who authorized a transfer. A chain can prove what

### 2) 2026-09-19 — boundary match + fixture freeze list

> Yes. That boundary matches the one we are trying to preserve: execution proof
> can establish what was authorized and run, while delivery evidence and the
> agreed acceptance criterion frame the separate question of conformity.
> For a useful bilateral fixture, I would freeze: the exact agreement and

### 3) 2026-09-19 — formal reply to the joint-pilot question (verbatim)

> Yes, we are open to reviewing a redacted CoreGuard execution fixture to
> assess technical fit. That review would be exploratory and would not by
> itself commit either side to a pilot, integration, case study, partnership,

## Addendum — 2026-09-23 (after §4 + mapping-test reply + stable-anchor delivery)

### Counterparty reply 4) 2026-09-23 — mapping test ACCEPTED (public thread)

> Thanks for labeling the fixture precisely. Yes: synthetic party, dispute, and
> delivery material with a real Core Mainnet execution anchor is useful for an
> exploratory technical mapping test. It is not evidence of a real paid bounded
> bilateral dispute, independent party participation, or delivery conformity,
> and reviewing it would not commit either side to a pilot or integration. ...
> For a fully synthetic, safely redacted package, the public thread is
> preferable so the mapping and its limits remain inspectable. Please share a
> stable link to the exact commit and fixture path, along with the permitted
> use, disclosure, and retention limits. ... The narrow question is whether
> declared intent and verified execution can sit alongside the agreement
> version, delivery references, each position, and the still-unresolved
> acceptance question without treating execution verification as adjudication.

Quoted scope-notes: fixture remains NOT evidence of a real paid bilateral
dispute, participation, or conformity; review does NOT commit to pilot or
integration.

### Owner's stable-anchor delivery (2026-09-23 14:42:43Z UTC)

- CoreGuard replied (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1R4`) with: the stable anchor
  `commit ea59a88` + `fixture path: examples/delivery-fixture/` (byte-identical
to current `main`); re-affirmed full synthetic scope and that no secrets or
personal data are included; pointed to `retention-policy.json` (retention
limit + purge commitment) and `consent-and-disclosure.json` for the use /
disclosure limits; re-stated the boundary (no adjudication of delivery
conformance). No funding, partnership, sponsorship, or introduction request
  was made.
- Thread state (2026-09-23, re-checked after posting): **mapping test accepted
on the public thread; stable anchor delivered** (see reply 5 below for the
mapping result and the one correction it produced). The bodies of the
owner's comments are not re-asserted here; this entry records only existence,
  timestamps, ids, and scope.

## Addendum — 2026-09-23 (mapping result + fixture correction)

### Counterparty reply 5) 2026-09-23 — mapping result: boundary holds, one clarification

> Thanks for the stable public anchor and the explicit synthetic/disclosure

Comment: #21788 reply `#discussioncomment-18568567`, 2026-09-23.

Facts-only reading: the schema mapping largely holds (boundary language);
exactly one schema-level claim was overclaiming — `paymentSettled: true` could
be read as settlement of the modeled compensation (0.25 CORE) while the only
anchored transfer is an execution coupon (0.001 CORE). The counterparty's
own classification was the generous "former" (independent anchor).

### Owner's fixture correction + re-anchor (2026-09-23)

- The fixture no longer carries any claim that the modeled compensation is
paid. `execution-attestation.json` now records `executionCoupon` (the REAL
  settled transfer, 0.001 CORE) and `compensationSettlement.status =
  NOT_SETTLED` (`agreementCompensationWei: 250000000000000000`,
`settledByExecutionCoupon: false`); the provenance text and the fixture
README were aligned; the pin manifest (`hashes.json`) regenerated; the
"payment settled" honesty contract in `test/delivery/fixture.test.js` now
  asserts the new flags.
- Repro after correction (unchanged): hashes 10/10 byte-exact ·
  `EXECUTION_EVIDENCE_ADMISSIBLE — CONFORMITY_UNDECIDED_BY_ENGINE` ·
  adversarial 13/13 / 5/5 / fuzz 50 seed 424242 → 0 · B1
  PAYMENT_INFERENCE_FORBIDDEN PASS · `npm test` (see STATUS). Thread reply
posted 2026-09-23 15:44:22Z UTC (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1et`) with the
corrected anchor (`commit ef6a0b8`) and the live RPC re-verification of the
  anchored transfer (rpc.coredao.org: eth_getTransactionReceipt → status 0x1,
  block 38712625, gasUsed 21000; eth_getTransactionByHash → value
1000000000000000 wei = 0.001 CORE). The reply confirms: receipt is an
execution coupon only, not settlement of the modeled compensation; signatures
are fixture mechanics; the rejection is a party record, not adjudication.

### Counterparty reply 6) 2026-09-23 — correction confirmed resolved (closing)

> I checked the committed JSON and README at `ef6a0b8` read-only. The top-level
> `paymentSettled` claim is gone; `executionCoupon.valueWei` is
> 1000000000000000 and `compensationSettlement` explicitly says NOT_SETTLED
> against the modeled 250000000000000000 wei obligation. That resolves the
> specific evidence-labeling issue I raised. I have not independently verified
> the chain receipt or run your verifier, so I am not endorsing those results.
> The package remains a synthetic mapping exercise, with no real bilateral
> consent, paid agreement, or adjudication. Thanks for making the boundary
> explicit.

Comment: `#discussioncomment-18569442` (`DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1ji`,
2026-09-23 16:09:40Z).

Facts-only reading and record note: the counterparty confirms the raised
evidence-labeling issue is resolved and thanks the owner for making the
boundary explicit; it explicitly does NOT endorse results (no independent
chain verification, no verifier run). The package remains a synthetic mapping
exercise. This closes the mapping branch on the owner's side.

### Owner-directed follow-up 2026-09-23 16:35:17Z UTC (research invitation)

At the owner's explicit direction, a narrowly scoped research-invitation
message was **POSTED** (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1ow`, 2026-09-23 16:35:17Z),
superseding the earlier record line about "no further thread message planned".
It: (1) thanks the counterparty and credits their feedback for the
execution-evidence vs consent/obligation/acceptance/adjudication separation;
(2) frames the fixture as a small reproducible starting point, explicitly NOT
a completed dispute-resolution case; (3) invites, **if relevant to their
ongoing research**, a narrowly scoped public exchange on four optional tracks
(shared execution-vs-consent vocabulary; minimal evidence-package requirements
synthetic→real; failure modes where automated verification could be
misread as substantive judgment; a small cross-reviewer test set); (4)
explicitly assumes **no endorsement or formal participation** and invites
critical review; (5) asks the counterparty to pick a specific boundary, use
case, or failure mode to test next. No funding, partnership, sponsorship,
pilot, or introduction request was made in any word.
- Thread state (2026-09-23, re-checked): **mapping result received; one schema
correction mailed with the new stable anchor; awaiting any follow-up.**
No funding, partnership, sponsorship, or introduction request was made.

## Addendum — 2026-09-23 (paired-assent next-test: offer → acceptance → publication)

### Counterparty reply 7) 2026-09-23 — paired synthetic fixture proposed (bounded critique offered)

Comment: `#discussioncomment-18569800` (`DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1pI`,
2026-09-23 16:37:19Z, top-level).

### Owner's acceptance + pair publication (2026-09-23)

- **Acceptance POSTED** 16:47:03Z (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1qn`,
dbId 18569895): the next test is confirmed as a paired synthetic fixture
focused on separating execution evidence from modeled consent/authority,
with execution + delivery receipts identical between A and B; the fixture
does not claim real-world authority, paid compensation, or adjudication.
- **Pair SHIPPED + PUBLISHED**: `assent-pair-v1.0.0` at commit `1c7223f`
  (`examples/delivery-fixture/pairs/assent-pair/`) — deterministic generator
  + fail-closed verifier (**10 invariants → `ASSENT_PAIR OK`**) +
  `expected-field-map.json` (field → value → source → permitted attester →
  unknown?) + SHA-256 pins (`pair-hashes.json`, self-excluded) + README +
  3 contract tests (`test/delivery/assent-pair.test.js`); `.gitattributes`
pins the pairs tree `-text` for fresh-clone byte parity. CI green on
`1c7223f` (CI + Docs Wire Contract + Intake Pipeline + DDE Evidence Cycle).
- **Posted to the thread** 17:14:04Z (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1vQ`,
dbId 18570192) with the commit link, the A/B semantics, the attestation
permissions, the explicit unknowns, and the boundaries restated (both
cases synthetic; REAL anchor is the execution layer only; no EIP-712
signatures in the pair; `compensationSettlement.status = NOT_SETTLED` in
both; no integration/pilot/review/adjudication implied by their offer).
- Thread state (2026-09-23, re-checked after posting): **pair published;
awaiting the bounded read-only critique of the evidence labels.** No
funding, partnership, sponsorship, pilot, or introduction request was
  made.

### Pair review critique + evidence-labeling correction (2026-09-23)

- **Critique RECEIVED** 17:23:37Z (comment `#discussioncomment-18570343`,
  `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG1xn`, shunhe-wang, 6 min after publication):
confirmed execution + delivery objects are structurally identical across
A/B, the consent objects differ as intended, all three JSON SHA-256 values
match `pair-hashes.json`; **they did not run the verifier and did not
independently check the chain receipt**. Two label ambiguities were raised
before the pair becomes a safe reusable schema:
  1. B still carries `consent.modeledAssent: true` while
`principalB.assent` is UNKNOWN — a consumer reading the aggregate
boolean could treat bilateral assent as established; a tri-state
aggregate (or no aggregate) would preserve the scenario distinction.
  2. The field map calls modeled compensation NOT_SETTLED / not paid while
also listing `modeledCompensationSettlement` as unknown — absence of
settlement evidence supports "not evidenced as settled", never a
verified nonpayment finding; separate evidence status from actual
     settlement status.
Explicitly closed as: evidence-label comments on a synthetic fixture, NOT a
finding on real authority, payment, conformity, or merits. Disclosure:
  People's Court / Epistemic Labs.
  Verbatim:

- **Corrected + COMMITTED + PUSHED** `1e75fba` (rewritten on origin by the
rebase over the perf-median race; CI green — CI + Docs Wire Contract +
Intake Pipeline + DDE Evidence Cycle):
  1. `consent.modeledAssent` is no longer a boolean — it is a derived
     tri-state string (A=`FULL`, B=`PARTIAL`); the `FULL | PARTIAL | MISSING
     | UNKNOWN` state space, `modeledAssentDerivedFrom` (the authoritative
     party-level fields) and the no-bilateral-read note are declared;
     `modeledAssentStatus` is removed; B's `principalB.assent` stays UNKNOWN.
  2. `compensationSettlement.status: NOT_SETTLED` is removed — replaced by
     `evidenceStatus: NOT_EVIDENCED_AS_SETTLED` + `actualStatus: UNKNOWN`.
The same no-boolean shape was applied to the canonical
     `execution-attestation.json` (`make-fixture.mjs` regenerated), re-pinned
     `hashes.json` + both DDE pages.
  Verifier gained invariants V10 (settlement evidence/actual split) + V11
  (aggregate is a derived tri-state, never a bilateral-assent read) →
  **11/11 → `ASSENT_PAIR OK`**; 2 regression tests added to
`test/delivery/assent-pair.test.js`; fixture honesty contract + pair README
aligned. Full suite: 929 tests — 927 pass locally; the two known
  load-sensitive perf assertions (fixture.test.js, reviewer-table.test.js)
  are green isolated and CI-authoritative.
- **Reply POSTED** 18:15:37Z (comment `DC_kwDOMT5cIs4BG164`, dbId 18570936,
nested): commit link (`1e75fba`) + the exact change set only — the
tri-state aggregate mechanics, the evidence-status/actual-status split in
both the pair and the canonical fixture, the new verifier invariants
(11/11), the two regression tests, and the unchanged boundaries (both cases
synthetic; REAL anchor = execution layer only; no claim of real authority,
compensation payment, or merits outcome). No new asks; no defense or
  narrative.

### Post-round capture: standard, CLI, case study (2026-09-23/24, no thread posts)

**No message was sent to the thread in this step** — it ends at the correction
reply of 18:15:37Z. The round's output was converted into repo assets only:

- **EVP/1 standard** — `docs/evidence-package-standard.md` codifies the rules
the critique produced: consent is per-party first with a derived tri-state
aggregate (never a boolean, never a bilateral-assent read); settlement
  separates `evidenceStatus` (`NOT_EVIDENCED_AS_SETTLED`) from `actualStatus`
(`UNKNOWN`); unknowns preserved with permitted attester `NONE`; SHA-256 pins
(self-excluded manifest); deterministic generators; `-text` trees.
- **One-command CLI** — `scripts/make-evidence-package.mjs` (`npm run
  evidence-package -- --out <dir>`): stage → generate → verify (11/11,
  fail-closed) → deliver → re-verify; exit 0 `EVP_OK` / 1 on failure (nothing
  delivered) / 2 usage. Contract tests: 6/6 (`test/delivery/evidence-package.test.js`),
including byte-parity vs the committed pair, determinism, refuse-foreign-dir,
  and the previously-missing fail-closed pin-tamper test (now V1 rejection).
- **Case study + publish drafts** — `docs/case-study-agent-evidence-labels-2026-09-23.md`
(full article, X thread, LinkedIn post) with an explicit honesty clause:
read-only review ≠ endorsement; they did not run the verifier or check the
chain. Not yet published (no external accounts/keys in-repo).
- **Pitch deck** — `submission/14-pitch-deck.md` gained the read-only-review
evidence row and an honesty-box line (no endorsement claim); suite count
refreshed to 936 (delivery gained the 6 CLI contract tests: 929 → 936).
Local suite: 933/936, the three failures being the known load-sensitive
  timing/perf assertions (fixture.test.js, http.test.js, reviewer-table.test.js),
  each green isolated; CI authoritative.
- **Outreach draft** — `docs/outreach-draft-people-court-attestation-layer.md`
(Variants A/B) drafted but NOT posted; posting before the counterparty
responds to `1e75fba` would add a third consecutive message from our side.
**Owner decision: HOLD — nothing is posted until the counterparty
  responds.**
- **Fix** — pair README's wrong link (`issues/21788`) corrected to the real
  discussion URL.

Thread state remains: **awaiting the counterparty's response to the 1e75fba
correction.** No asks made at any point; no claims beyond what the records
support.
